A design and build contractor is sought by Southampton University to deliver its planned teaching hub in the North East Quadrant.

The site is part of the Highfield Campus in the city and will be developed in two phases.

The first phase will involve building a 5-storey teaching facility and ancillary facilities hub, covering 168,000 sq ft.

The building will have three interconnected areas around a central atrium. The west block will have a concrete structure, while the east / south block will have a steel frame.

The second phase is still in the concept design stage.

The site for the North East Quarter development is bounded by Burgess Road and Broadlands Road.

The contractor will work with the client design team under a preconstruction and enabling works agreement, which will be signed in the New Year.

The University aims to agree on a final contract sum for the delivery of the NEQ project by early 2027.
